Everything you need to know before your first visit — and beyond.
We have two clinic locations across the Toowoomba region:
We also see clients in their homes, in aged care facilities, and through telehealth across our coverage area.
We usually offer new patient appointments within one to two weeks, and we triage referrals based on condition and urgency. Same‑day and next‑day appointments are sometimes available depending on the day and location — the easiest way to check is our online booking page.
Yes. Both our Westbrook and Glenvale clinics offer step‑free access. If you have specific accessibility needs, please call us before your appointment and we’ll make sure your visit is comfortable.
Our team speaks English. If you’d prefer to engage with a clinician in another language, let us know when you book — we can arrange a telehealth interpreter through the Australian Government’s Translating and Interpreting Service (TIS National).
You can book online any time, call us on (07) 4595 1559, or send a referral if you’re a GP or aged care provider.
No — you do not need a GP referral to see a physiotherapist in Australia. Physiotherapists are primary contact health practitioners, which means you can book directly.
That said, GPs are the cornerstone of communitybased care. With your consent, we'll communicate with your preferred GP about any further investigations or imaging that may be needed, and we'll send them a summary of the care you receive at our clinic.
A GP referral is required if you want to access the Medicare GP Chronic Condition Management Plan (GPCCMP, previously called as EPC), which provides up to 5 bulkbilled physiotherapy sessions per calendar year with no outofpocket cost. Your GP determines whether you're eligible and provides the referral.
Your first appointment is a full assessment and the start of your treatment plan. We’ll:
Initial assessments are up to 40 minutes. You’ll usually leave with a clear plan, a home exercise programme, and an idea of what to expect over the coming weeks.
Sessions are generally between 30 and 60 minutes, depending on the type of appointment and what your treatment plan requires.
Wear loose, comfortable clothing that lets us assess and treat the area you’re seeing us about. For example, shorts work well for knee or hip concerns, and a singlet or short‑sleeved top for shoulders or upper back.
Please bring along:
We hold your appointment time specifically for you, which means a cancellation affects another client who could have used that slot.
We accept all major health insurance funding and welcome clients across a wide range of payment types:
If you're unsure which funding option applies to you, our team is happy to help — just contact us before your appointment.
Yes, with a valid GP Chronic Condition Management Plan (GPCCMP, previously called as EPC) you can receive up to 5 bulkbilled physiotherapy sessions per calendar year with no outofpocket cost. Your GP determines whether you're eligible and provides the referral.
Yes — most major Australian private health funds include physiotherapy under extras cover. We offer on‑the‑spot claiming through Tyro HealthPoint, so you can claim your rebate at the time of your appointment and only pay the gap. The exact rebate depends on your fund and your level of cover.
Fees vary depending on the type of appointment, length, and whether it’s clinic‑based, home visit, or aged care. Please contact us on (07) 4595 1559 or email admin@balanceandmove.com for our current fee schedule. If you have a CDMP referral, WorkCover claim, DVA card, or NDIS plan, you may have no out‑of‑pocket cost.
Yes. Balance and Move Physiotherapy is a registered NDIS provider, which means we can deliver physiotherapy to NDIS participants across all three plan management types — NDIA‑managed, plan‑managed, and self‑managed.
You (or your support coordinator) can book online, call us on (07) 4595 1559, or email admin@balanceandmove.com. When booking, please let us know:
We’ll send a service agreement and confirm everything before your first session.
Physiotherapy under the NDIS supports a wide range of goals, including:
Services typically sit under Improved Daily Living or Improved Health and Wellbeing in your NDIS plan. We’re happy to discuss whether physiotherapy fits your plan before you book.
Yes. We provide progress reports for plan reviews and can liaise with your support coordinator, plan manager, or LAC as needed. Please let us know in advance if you need a report for a specific date or plan‑review meeting.
We accept referrals via:
If your patient is on a GP Chronic Condition Management Plan (GPCCMP), please include the GPCCMP form along with the relevant Medicare item number.
Yes. We bulkbill Medicare for clients referred under a GP Chronic Condition Management Plan (GPCCMP, previously called as EPC). Patients receive up to 5 sessions per calendar year at no outofpocket cost. Please ensure the referral includes the GP's signature, date, and the Medicare item number.
With the patient’s consent, we send a summary letter to the referring GP about key points in care. Our letters cover assessment findings, the treatment plan, progress, and any recommendations for further investigation or specialist input.
Yes. We provide home‑visit physiotherapy for people who can’t easily travel to a clinic — ideal for clients with mobility difficulties, post‑surgical recovery, or those who simply prefer to be assessed and treated in their own environment.
We provide community physiotherapy services across a wide region from Brisbane through to the Darling Downs. Our physiotherapists are allocated by region to ensure reliable and timely community‑based care.
If you are located outside the marked service areas, or are unsure whether we can assist, feel free to contact us and we will do our best to accommodate your needs. We’re continually expanding the areas where we can provide care.
Home‑visit physiotherapy can be funded through several pathways:
If you’re unsure which option applies to you, our team will help you work out the best fit.
Yes. We provide physiotherapy at residential aged care facilities in partnership with facility teams. We work with residents and their families to maintain mobility, reduce falls risk, and support quality of life — under both Home Care Packages and direct facility arrangements. Facility managers can contact us to discuss partnership options.
Our physiotherapists bring everything needed for a thorough assessment and treatment — including hands‑on therapy tools, exercise equipment, and assessment kit. For ongoing programmes, we’ll guide you on any simple equipment (e.g. resistance bands) that’s useful to have at home.
Yes — telehealth physiotherapy is available across Australia. Telehealth sessions are particularly useful for follow‑up appointments, exercise progressions, advice, and clients in regional or remote areas where travelling to a clinic isn’t practical.
For many conditions, telehealth is highly effective — particularly for exercise prescription, return‑to‑activity planning, post‑surgical guidance, and chronic pain management. Where hands‑on assessment or treatment is clearly needed, we’ll let you know and recommend an in‑person session.
Book through our online booking page or call us on (07) 4595 1559. We’ll email you a video link and a short pre‑session form to fill in. All you need is a phone, tablet, or computer with a camera, and a reasonably stable internet connection.
Yes. All of our physiotherapists are registered with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA), which is the legal requirement to practise as a physiotherapist in Australia. We are also an APA Member practice.
We treat a broad range of musculoskeletal, neurological, vestibular, and cardiorespiratory conditions across all ages. Common reasons people see us include:
If you’re not sure whether we can help with your specific concern, give us a call — we’ll let you know honestly if a different practitioner would be a better fit.
Yes. We offer vestibular physiotherapy for vertigo (including BPPV), dizziness, motion sensitivity, and balance disorders. Treatment is evidence‑based and often produces rapid improvements — particularly for BPPV. See our Vestibular Physiotherapy page for more detail.
Yes. We deliver neurological rehabilitation for stroke, traumatic brain injury, Parkinson’s disease, multiple sclerosis, and other neurological conditions — in our clinics, at home, in aged care, and via telehealth. We work alongside other members of your care team where relevant. See our Neurological Rehabilitation page for more detail.
